Bellingham is really a dozen smaller places, and the right one depends on the trip. Downtown and Fairhaven put you near restaurants, coffee, and the waterfront. Lake Whatcom and Cain Lake mean docks, paddleboards, and quiet mornings. Birch Bay and Semiahmoo are for the shoreline. Lummi Island is a short ferry and a world away. Hard to imagine a better spot for a getaway with friends. The lake views are stunning, the hot tub and dock made for some of our favorite moments, and having two homes meant everyone had room to spread out without losing the group feel.
